Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV)

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

October is already here and I haven't shared our arrival back into Colombia! Our return was celebrated with the Feria de los Flores, the annual parade of silleteros where all the beauty of nature is shown through amazing displays of flowers. Families from Medellin, Santa Elena, and the surrounding areas have been creating these displays for 56 years and it is an honor and privilege to be able to carry your family's silleteros.

The silleteros are the wooden carriers that were used by workers to carry produce and other materials from place to place in locations where other transportation wasn't available or accessible.

We were able to visit one of the fincas where they grow the flowers and the lady of the house showed us how they make the displays. They had beautiful gardens that you can visit all year round and feel welcomed.

It would be amazing to be able to live in the middle of all this color and nature every day! If you ever need a place to just be and sit in the presence of God, this is it.

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to have a green thumb, this is the place to find out. It was amazing all the different types of flowers that were growing here, but I guess you would have to have a lot since the displays can range up to 7 feet tall by 5 feet wide and that would take a lot of flowers. What always fascinates me is the variety of quality flowers from lilies, to roses, to orchids and heleconias.
I like traveling the back roads and finding the little casitas that remind me of where elves and fairies might be living. Steve and I have been blessed to be able to travel and see so much of the world and really enjoy all of God's wonders and creations.

Colombia has lots of places and surprises still in store for us as we are in a new place with new experiences. There has already been a lot of ups and downs but we continue to put our faith in God and trust His plan for our lives. We have to be willing to follow where God leads us and realize that joy is not dependent upon our circumstances, but our hearts. We are both teaching 8th grade this year so it is a new experience for Steve and I being in the same grade level and hopefully we can learn from each other and be good role models for our students.
